EDC’s Plushie Project receives best CSR award

Leading geothermal producer and first gen-owned Energy Development Corporation’s (EDC) plushies project was among the recipients of the Best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Collaboration Project at the 2023 League of Corporate Foundations’ CSR Guild Awards last Thursday, July 6 at the Makati Diamond Residences.

The stuffed toy-making project was officially introduced under the BINHI – Flagship Species Initiative in 2022 in collaboration with the ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation Inc., Karaw Craft Ventures, and two community organizations from Sorsogon province — Bacman Host Communities Multipurpose Cooperative and Seeds of Hope.

The project came to life with the intention to prioritize the protection of certain flora and fauna species in its project sites and to shed light about the threatened wildlife species such as the near-threatened Apo Myna (Goodfellowia miranda) named Diwa, and the endangered Golden-Crowned Flying Fox (Acerodon jubatus) dubbed Kali.

Each stuffed toy is priced at P700 (Apo Myna) to P800 (Flying fox) and is packed in a printed cloth bag or a box that contains an information card about the species. I Lou Marie Cuarto
