Celebrating Jesse Robredo’s Legacy

NAGA CITY— On the birth anniversary of late former DILG secretary Jesse Robredo on Saturday, May 27, his family, friends, colleagues, and followers, celebrated through different activities in one day.

A program followed by a mass celebrating Jesse Robredo’s life and legacy on his 65th birthday anniversary commenced at the Eternal Gardens, Naga City which was attended by several local officials including Naga City Mayor Nelson Legacion and former Vice President and Atty. Leni Robredo.

In an interview with Bicoldotph, Legacion mentioned that the event was supposed to be held in Jesse M. Robredo Museum, however the organizers had to adjust the location for the convenience of the Robredo family.

“As early as days ago, ‘yung preparations namin ay doon sana sa Jesse M. Robredo Museum sa may civic center and in fact, nakahanda na syempre ‘yung place, ‘yung tao na darating – pero dahil kailangang i-consider po ‘yung presence ng pamilya, at dahil nagkaroon ng problema sa travel, minabuti po natin na dito ganapin sa Eternal Gardens, ngayong hapon kaya nandito po tayong lahat,” he said.

After the mass, another commemorative activity transpired through Tsinelas Walk, wherein supporters from various organizations walked from Eternal Gardens to The Carmen Hotel, where they are welcomed by an enthusiastic band and a group of cosplayers at around 6 p.m.

After the Tsinelas Walk, the ‘Tayo ang Liwanag’ book signing event was then flocked by supporters to sign their books by Atty. Robredo and to purchase merchandises, such as stickers, canvas bags, umbrellas, etc.

Meanwhile, Siklab Lingkod Bicol (SLB) formely known as Solid Leni Bicol and is headed by Rolando “Bong” Rodriguez, also gave out free porridge and water to the attendees of the event.

Rodriguez mentioned that they made the event simple upon the request of Atty. Robredo.

“Medyo simple lang ang preparations natin for this because si Vice President Leni Robredo na isa nang simpleng Attorney Leni Robredo ngayon, ang instruction niya lagi saamin is that laging simple lang,” he added.
