Three persons were arrested in Aroroy, Masbate for illegal possession of firearms after failing to show legal documents of the firearms and ammunitions they have in a checkpoint on April 2, 2023 in Masbate.
Aroroy Municipal Police and 96th Infantry Brigade, Philippine Army while conducting a joint checkpoint at Brgy. Puro, Aroroy, Masbate particularly in front of Headquarters, Puro Patrol Base 96IB, PA, flagged down a Mitsubishi L300 van at around 9:30 in the evening of the said date.
On board the vehicle were three men, aging 29, 31 and 36 years old, all residents of Aroroy, Masbate. Seized from them are the following items:
- 1 unit Taurus 9mm with defaced serial number;
- 1 steel magazine for caliber 9mm;
- 16 rounds of live ammunition for caliber 9mm;
- 1 unit Caspian Caliber .45 pistol with serial number 279307;
- 1 steel magazine for caliber .45; eight rounds of live ammunition for caliber .45;
- 1 unit Caliber .45 pistol make: Norinco 1911 with serial number 687283;
- 2 pieces steel magazine for caliber .45;
- 11 rounds of live ammunition for caliber .45;
- 1 unit Mitsubishi L300 Van color gray bearing Plate No. THG 752;
- and 75 pieces of plastic containers containing gasoline product more or less 1,500 Liters.
The three failed to present any legal documents for the possession of firearms and ammunitions and the necessary permit to transport petroleum products.
They are now in the custody of Aroroy MPS where criminal complaints are being prepared for filing against them.
