Missing fisherman found dead

Another missing fisherman from Catanduanes was found dead in the waters off Matnog, Sorsogon on Monday, December 26.

The body of Noel Zafe, 58, was found off the coast of Bagangay Paghuliran at around 12 noon, according to a report of Office of Civil Defense Bicol.

Zafe, a resident of Palnal del Norte, Virac was among the five missing fishermen in Virac since December 24.

Earlier found was the body of Arnel Araojo, 43, in Barangay Calamaha, Rapu-Rapu, Albay.

Mark Joseph Matira, head of operations of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council of Virac said they have suspended the search, rescue and retrieval operations due to rough waters and are relying on information dissemination for now.

Still missing are Dante David, 41; Domingo Borilla Jr., 33; and Jason Mandasoc, 31.

In Viga town, four fishermen are still missing. Ringo Tupig, 37; Willy Uchi, 35; Jobert TeaƱo, 33; and Juanito Estrella Jr., 51, went fishing on Dec. 21 using a motorized banca and failed to return since.
