A bicolano from Legazpi City, Rico had nothing to do during the Covid-19 lockdown. He cannot go to the beach to dive, his hotel and restaurant remained closed and he cannot ride his dirt bike too. So, being the true blue adventurer that he is, he decided to do some adventure at home – he set up a small brewery where he personally brew his own craft beers.
Craft beer is a beer that has been made by craft breweries. They produce smaller amount of beer typically less than large breweries, and are often independently owned. Such breweries are generally perceived and marketed as having an emphasis on enthusiasm, new flavours, and varied techniques.
Rico started brewing during the pandemic by studying the basics and proceeded on improving the taste and ‘feel’ of his own beer. His small brewery – the Oragon Craft Brewhouse located in Rawis, Legazpi City, caters mostly to friends for now but soon will be open to the public.
If you happen to love the dark-nearly black, bold and smooth taste of ale, Rico’s version of stout beer will satisfy your hearty coffee beer taste cravings. His indian pale ale is translucent, golden brown with a thick head when poured in a glass. Its balanced flavor might have been derived from having enough malt sweetness that Rico painstakingly tweaked to give you that intense bold taste experience. These two flavors will surely be a hit for those who love a little kick on their beer.
His two other flavors – pale ale and creamale are definitely brewed for those who love the crispiness of light beer. His pale ale is amber colored and cloudy compared to the creamale that is blonde. The former is bubbly while the latter is flat. Both however are mild bodied. Perfect for a night out.
