New GSIS Chief pushes for immediate calamity fund assistance

LEGAZPI CITY, ALBAY — Veteran banker and new Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) President/General Manager Wick Veloso said he is aiming to further deliver better customer service and immediate response to members affected by calamities, during his visit at the GSIS Legazpi Branch for the awarding of best performing agencies in the province of Albay.

“We do not need to wait for calamity-stricken areas to be declared under state of calamity to avail GSIS assistance. We are working on making our assistance readily available in times of calamities or disasters, even without local or national declarations especially that government workers are responders as well,” Veloso said.

He also urged government agencies to remit and post on-time the collected contributions for easier and faster processing of benefits.

“Hinihikayat natin ang mga kawani ng ating pamahalaan, kunh magre-retire na kayo, three months before makipag-ugnayan na with GSIS for early updating and coordination with your agencies,” he said.

Veloso further assures the stability of GSIS fund, citing 32 years expected fund life.

Veloso, together with Albay Gov. Noel Albay Gov. Noel E. Rosal, honored the top performing agencies in terms of collection efficiency on premiums and loans and insurance business.

These are the Bagamanok Rural Development High School in Catanduanes for collection efficiency and City Government of Legazpi, Provincial Government of Albay and Bicol Regional Training & Teaching Hospital for insurance business. I via PIA Albay
