Bicolano Studs join National Leaders Convention in Baguio City

BAGUIO CITY — A total of 91 students from five universities and colleges from Bicol region joined the Philippine Association of Campus Student Advisers (PACSA) 2023 in Baguio Teachers Camp, Baguio City on March 8-11, 2023.

After a year of pandemic and online implementation of PACSA, this year marks the comeback of its face-to-face national convention.

This years’ PACSA theme is ‘Connectivity 2023: Lead through Borderless Community,’ and is attended by student leaders and campus advisers all over the Philippines.

The event aims to train and equip student leaders holistically to enable them to develop intellectually, morally, socially, and spiritually. 

The organizers recorded a total of 835 participants from across the country.

In a message, Sherwin Punla, PACSA National President from Arellano University cannot deny the excitement for the event, following the participation of schools from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

“Despite the struggles that we are facing right now, you are here to witness a significant event that will truly motivate you to do good things for the community,” Punla said.

Students are excited and hopeful and looking forward to learn more as student leaders.

“Actually [this] event is very important kasi ma-mold ka and mabibigyan ka ng opportunity to showcase and learn from others… magkakaroon ng [unity] from each other, others can benefit from you and you can benefit from them,” Rey Soria, Bicolano delegate from Mabini Colleges Inc. said. 

Meanwhile, Luzon Core Group Area Chairperson from Bicol University Julius Caesar Martinez shared his vision towards the event.

“Collaboration, linkages and connection is the prime theme of this event definitely the participation of this diverse young leaders they’ll be able to get their best practices and utilize them to improve services for the studentry,” Martinez said in an interview with Bicol.PH.

Vico Sotto, Pasig City Mayor also shared his wish for the student attendees.

“Sa mga participants natin sa mga mag-aaral na young student leaders sa National Convention na ito, sana samantalahin ninyo ang pagkakataon na ito para matuto at ma-hone ang mga skills ninyo bilang student leaders para lalo pa maging instrumento sa mga pagbabago na gusto nating makita sa ating lipunan,” Sotto said. | Aaron John Baluis
