Twenty five (25) community-based organizations from Bicol region join the 3-day GoLokal products exhibit in a mall in Legazpi City.
On display are healthy food products and quality home decors made by the organizations that had been helped by various partner agencies of Department of Social Welfare and Development Bicol under its program Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP).
While the program was launched three years ago on the national level, this GoLokal exhibit is a first for Bicol.
EPAHP Regional Coordinator Alayssa Cabigao says the program was only launched in the region last year. “Yung sa amin naman po ay community-based organization, as you can see kung titingnan nyo po yung rice na yun gawa sya ng cooperative from Cam Sur and then the other side is gawa naman po ng mga sustainable livelihood program association ng DSWD and then all others po yung iba po, Department of Agriculture assisted na organization and then yung karamihan na naka display ay mga agrarian reform beneficiary organization na hawak ni DAR. so more or less we have 25 organization involved in this activity not only from Albay but also from other provinces in Bicol region”, (Our exhibitors are community-based organization, as you can see if you look at that rice it is made by a cooperative from Cam Sur and on the other side is made by the sustainable livelihood program association of DSWD and then all the others are Department of Agriculture assisted organizations and agrarian reform beneficiary organizations under DAR. So more or less we have 25 organizations involved in this activity not only from Albay but also from other provinces in Bicol region).
Among DSWD EPAHP’s goals is sustainable agriculture hunger mitigation and reduction poverty.
They are hopeful the ongoing exhibit at SM Legazpi which will run until Friday, November 25, will provide a wider market for the community-based organizations and possibly get them linkages and become suppliers to private and government markets.
