Constructive Journalism: Going Beyond Climate Reporting in Bicol
This year will mark an important milestone for Bicoldotph and our resolve to bring free and accessible journalism to Bicolanos. As we turn five this September, we are proud and excited to announce a renewed dedication to environmental and climate journalism.
The Bicol Region continues to face disaster risks, becoming susceptible to typhoons, volcanic eruptions, floods, landslides and other environmental challenges, resulting in severe casualties due to low disaster preparedness and climate change awareness among the public.
In order to help our staff continue providing free and accessible environmental and climate stories that inform, empower, and spark action, we would like to appeal to your support through donations.
Why Support Us?
- Public Awareness Campaign – While we see more awareness, there is still a need to inform the public on the how certain issues are linked to the environment and climate. We will strive to explain this to our readers by talking to experts in these fields.
- Disaster Preparedness – We will ensure that preparedness lessen casualties as well as lessen the negative impact to the Bicolanos’ ways of living.
- Provide Sustainable Solutions – We believe that solutions that would not endanger other natural resources and not contribute to the worsening climate change should be highlighted in storytelling.
- Empower Local Voices – Bicoldotph will empower the underrepresented, unrepresented, and misrepresented in issues concerning the environment and the climate to ensure action and accountability from government officials and agencies.
What We Plan To Do:
- Multimedia Climate and Environmental Reporting – Publishing documentaries, news disaster coverage, and published reports.
- Advocacy – Presenting local community solutions and platforms to drive meaningful change and sustainable impact.
