More than 1K passengers stranded in Bicol due to Paeng

A total of 1244 passengers and 391 rolling cargoes are stranded in the different ports of the Bicol region due to tropical storm Paeng as of 8AM, October 28.  Additionally, there are 788 individuals, 186 trucks and 61 light vehicles stranded along Maharlika Highway going to Matnog Port in Sorsogon.

Some thirty one (31) municipalities from the province of Camarines Sur have reported 96 flooding incidents while four (4) barangays in Camarines Sur have reported landslide due to heavy rains.

Five flights have been cancelled as of 6AM today, October 28. Cebu Pacific’s DG 6163 and DG 6164 for its flight from Manila to Virac and vice versa was cancelled and DG 6177, DG6179 and DG 6178 Manila-Masbate routes of the same airline.

At 4AM, the center of Tropical Storm “PAENG” was estimated based on all available data at 410 km East of Borongan City, Eastern Samar (11.8°N, 129.2°E) with maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 90 km/h, and central pressure of 992 hPa. It is presently moving west northwestward at 15 km/h.

Signal Number 2 is in effect over Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and the eastern portion of Camarines Sur (Caramoan, Garchitorena, Presentacion, Lagonoy, Goa, San Jose, Tigaon, Iriga City, Saglay, Buhi) while signal number 1 is in effect over Masbate including Ticao and Burias Islands, Camarines Norte, the rest of Camarines Sur.
