In a remarkable feat, a Bicolano named Joshua Sarabosquez Biag, secured not just one but two spots in the topnotcher placement, claiming rank 3 in Electronics Technician (ECT) and rank 4 in Electronics Engineer (ECE) 2023 Licensure Examination.
Biag who is a 23-year-old native of Ocampo, Camarines Sur ranked 3rd in Electronics Technician (ECT) Licensure Examination garnering an average of 93%. He also ranked 4th in Electronics Engineer (ECE) Licensure Examination obtaining an average of 87%.
Biag’s double topnotcher journey
Biag took Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering in Camarines Sur Polytechnic College (CSPC) and graduated last July 2022.
In an interview with Bicoldotph, Biag admitted that he started from scratch given that he delayed taking licensure examination after he graduated. He pursued working first and it was his father that convinced him to take licensure examination.
He said that it was also hard for him juggling his work and review at the same time.
“It wasn’t an easy journey. I had numerous breakdowns and overthinking. Every single day, I kept on asking myself if I can do it. I was filled with doubts if I can really make it but I also keep in my mind to keep on going on no matter what,” said him.
Despite his doubts, Biag was determined to fulfill his dream of becoming a licensed engineer. With his determination, his instructors during his review recognized his potential of becoming a topnotcher.
“I was really hesitant if I really do possess the potential that my instructors told me about but I also said to myself to always keep on giving my best shot,” told him.
During his review, Biag said that self-discipline, prayer, perseverance, and self-confidence is very important. He allotted 12 hours every single day to review.
“It’s my principle not to quit no matter how hard it is. I believe that slow progress matters so on times I felt tired, I just gave myself a break and then continue again,” he added.
Strong support system
Biag is grateful for his family that serves as his inspiration and support system towards his topnotcher journey.
His father works as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) while his mother is a housewife. He is the eldest among 5 siblings.
Biag also thanked his former teachers, review center instructors, friends, and other relatives who were his constant supporters.
Inspired to inspire others
Biag finds inspiration in motivating others who aspire to become engineers like him. He encourages aspiring engineers to give their best in all their endeavors.
Currently, Biag remains open to the possibilities that life presents, keeping his options open for career opportunities that will enable him to thrive. I Jona Bagayawa
