ECC Legazpi celebrate its 48th Founding Anniversary

LEGAZPI CITY-  The Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) celebrate its 48th Founding Anniversary with a theme, “48 Taon na Naglilingkod at Umaagapay sa Mangagawang Pilipino” on Wednesday, March 15 at Ayala Malls Legazpi City.

The ECC is a government agency mandated by law to provide meaningful and appropriate compensation to workers in the event of work-related contingencies.

Yvette Bonavente, ECC’s Regional Information Officer II, clarified that they have a power to investigate those applications that have unclaimed benefits issues in SSS or GSIS.

“Kung hindi po approved ng SSS ang claims or kaya naman po simple with GSIS, if taga gobyerno naman ang magpa-file, kay GSIS ang punta. Kami po ang policy maker lang, hindi kami nagpo-proseso. Nakikialam lang kami sa claims kapag hindi nga nila approved, kami po ang magi-investigate,” Bonavente explained.

She also presented the latest data of the applicants who acquired the different ECC benefits under which are loss of income, medical benefits, carer’s allowance, death and funeral benefits and rehabilitation services.

“Nasa 1.8 million na yung natulungan mula 2020 hanggang 2023. Though alam ko po marami pa ang hindi nakapag-claim. Pero syempre nga po, we are only sharing a portion of a pie hindi po natin pwedeng kunin ang pondo ng buong Pilipinas,” Bonavente stated.

ECC also awarded one beneficiary during the event.

44-year-old Marlon Nierva, a Person with Work-Related Disability (PWRD) from Bigaa, Legazpi City was awarded a 20,000 worth of livelihood grant as a start-up for his hog raising business.

Nierva met a work-related injury resulting in a fracture on his left small finger last Nov. 13, 2021. | Aimee Mae Gizelle Sesno and Jemimah So
