PBBM inks laws renaming travel routes across PH

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. officially inked his signature on four new laws renaming various travel routes across the Philippines, including a major highway in Bicol.

Among these laws is Republic Act No. 11990, designating a stretch of highway spanning through various barangays in Goa, Tinambac, and Siruma in the Province of Camarines Sur as the “Speaker Arnulfo ‘Noli’ Fuentebella Highway.”

Said initiative is meant to serve as a lasting tribute to the influential legacy of the late Speaker Fuentebella, highlighting his contributions to the region’s development and progress.

Moreover, the rest of the inked laws are set to rename circumferential and bypass roads and a bridge in selected areas in Central Visayas, Ilocos Region, and Northern Mindanao.

In Central Visayas, Republic Act No. 11987 renames the Bohol Island Circumferential Road as “The President Carlos P. Garcia Circumferential Road.”

Moving to the Ilocos Region, Republic Act No. 11988 redesignates the Urdaneta City Bypass Road as “Ambassador Eduardo ‘Danding’ M. Cojuangco Jr. Avenue.”

Meanwhile, in Northern Mindanao, Republic Act No. 11989 brings about the renaming of the Tambacan Bridge to “Mariano Lluch Badelles Sr. Bridge.”

All four new laws were signed on March 21, and as per protocol, these legislative provisions are slated to come into effect 15 days following their publication in the Official Gazette or in newspapers of general circulation. | Kian Kirby F. Florano
