Masbate holds graduation rites for 231 4Ps household beneficiaries

Around 231 household beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) have successfully graduated in the province of Masbate on March 22.

Three municipalities in the province including Cataingan, Batuan, and San Fernando, marked the culmination of support for families who have demonstrated the ability to independently sustain themselves without relying on the assistance provided by the program.

The continuous rites dubbed “Pugay Tagumpay” were conducted by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office V – Provincial Operations Office which coincided with the celebration of National Women’s Month.

Cataingan held the largest ceremony with over 171 households who graduated in the program. Beneficiaries received food packs as tokens of appreciation from the local government unit (LGU) of the municipality.

In Batuan, 28 families bade farewell to the program under the guidance of LGU Batuan. Additionally, various government offices pledged ongoing support to the departing households, offering options for paid work as well as help with agricultural projects.

Meanwhile, in San Fernando, 32 families exited the program wherein each graduate received a certificate and a cash incentive of Php500 provided by the LGU San Fernando.

The Philippine government’s 4Ps conditional cash transfer program aims to reduce poverty and improve health, nutrition, and education in low-income households. For financial assistance to be granted, recipients must meet specific requirements, such as making sure their kids attend school and get immunizations. I Lyzha Mae Agnote
