2 injured in barbwire-inflicted motorcycle accident in Camarines Sur

On Sunday, March 21, a couple fell victim to a motorcycle accident caused by a barbwire allegedly placed intentionally along the road at Tigaon, Camarines Sur.

Said couple were identified as Ronnie Carreras, aged 47, and Glenda Carreras, aged 42, residents of Brgy. Tinawagan, Tigaon, Camarines Sur.

According to Glenda, they were on their way home from a neighboring barangay when Ronnie, who was driving the motorcycle, tried to abruptly take a full stop upon seeing a wire stretching across their way, with both ends securely locked on each side of the road.

Unfortunately, their brakes failed to halt their momentum in time, resulting in a direct collision with the barbwire.

Luckily, fellow residents, Mary Joy Vergara, aged 24, and Roy Amaranto, aged 26, were also en route to Tinawagan at the time of the incident.

Responding to the victim’s desperate call for aid, Amaranto fetched his fliers and used it to sever the barbwire piercing Ronnie’s neck.

Promptly, both victims were transported to the Tigaon Infirmary, where they received medical attention.

Ronnie sustained multiple wounds all over his body, including two puncture wounds in the neck, while his wife also incurred injuries from when the motorcycle slid down.

Due to financial constraints, the couple is currently recuperating at home, left to endure the excruciating pain caused by the accident as they have not been able to procure any of the necessary medications for their recovery.

Investigations are currently underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident and to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. | Kian Kirby F. Florano
