Albay prepared for Holy Week tourism surge, PTCAO Chief Colle exclaims

Albay Provincial Tourism, Culture and Arts Office (PTCAO) Chief Dorothy Colle claimed that the Province of Albay’s tourism sector is fully prepared to accommodate the surge of tourists expected this Holy Week.

In an interview with Bicoldotph this Monday, March 25, Colle stated that it had been a sort of established trend that Albay welcomes an influx of tourists during the Easter week break.

“Nakasanayan naman na nating tuwing Holy Week, dinaragsa talaga ang Albay ng mga tourists. In fact, we already received numerous inquiries from local and foreign tourists alike asking us about the destinations here in our province,” Colle claimed.

She elaborated that their office already coordinated with their Local Government Unit (LGU) counterparts and tourism offices, set to operate alongside tourist destinations themselves and their respective Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (DRRMOs).

“We’re ready. Albay is ready,” Colle exclaimed.

Furthermore, she also noted that last year’s Holy Week tourist rate truly was off the charts as it was the time that COVID-19 restrictions significantly laxed down, coinciding with a longer vacation period compared to this year, which is set to begin on Thursday.

However, despite such circumstantial differences, Colle expressed confidence that the province is still bound to be met with the same, if not greater, influx of tourists this year.

Additionally, she highlighted the opening of numerous new destinations and the introduction of exciting activities such as wall climbing, further contributing to the expected surge in tourism.

Lastly, in order to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for tourists, Colle advised the public to promptly seek assistance from the Tourism Information Centers upon arrival at their chosen destinations, ascertain that what they are to avail are accredited tourism services, and adhere to local advisories. | Kian Kirby F.
