The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Bicol has officially launched the “Competency Standards on Content Creation (social media) PQF Level III” on Thursday, March 21, at SM City Legazpi.
The program aims to enhance awareness and equip individuals with skills in social media content creation.
According to Archie Grande, regional director of TESDA V, training is important considering the significance of social media in present times.
“Formal training is a big help to content creators as well as aspiring content creators. Through this event, formal training will be provided later on because this is just the launch; we are laying the groundwork for competency standards,” Grande said in an interview with Bicoldotph.
Grande is also hopeful that many aspiring social media content creators, individuals, and especially businessmen will participate in the training.
“I encourage our content creators to undergo training, as well as individuals who aspire to become proficient in their social media usage. The goal of TESDA is to develop their proficiency and skills, which they can use for their personal goals and advocacies,” Grande explained, hoping that the agency will receive ample funding to assist more content creators.
Aireen Perol-Jaymalin, a veteran broadcaster and the resource speaker of the event, discussed the core competencies of content creation and shared concepts for social media posting, translating concepts into multimedia, and content propagation.
She reminded content creators and aspiring individuals to be mindful of what they post and to adapt to fast-changing social media trends.
“If your content suits your personality, why not? But if it doesn’t, don’t force it. There might be something else that suits you better, especially considering that social media content stays online forever. Screenshots and shares happen quickly, even if you want to delete it,” she shared.
Mary Ann Quinio, 62, a participant and resident of Legazpi City, shared her insights, which sparked her curiosity in social media content creation.
“I attended because I wanted to learn. I only create reels for fun, but I learned a lot, especially about thinking before posting and whether what I’m doing is right or wrong. I’m also inspired by the videos,” Quino said.
TESDA Albay Provincial Director Mariglo Sesse stressed that the program aims to empower creators and foster community dialogue. The training will cater more closely to individuals interested in content creation and promoting businesses.
The official launch included the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) between TESDA V and partnered government agencies.
Over 90 participants attended the event, including students, entrepreneurs, women’s organizations, vloggers, and other individuals interested in social media content creation.
Meanwhile, the target schedule for the said training will be in the second quarter of the month. Aspiring content creators willing to undergo training are only required to have good communication skills. Participants must be 18 years old or older, while no educational attainment is necessary. | Alliah Jane Babila
