Food Trip in Masbate? Patio Dada is your best bet

With the Rodeo Masbateño 2023 now back and in full swing, Masbate takes centerstage once more with one of the most exciting festivals in the country.

For the next few days, cowboys and cowgirls will whip, wrestle, lasso, ride and tame the fiercest bulls in town. For adrenaline junkies, there’s no better event than the Rodeo Masbateño.

Beyond these events, there are plenty of things to do in Masbate. It’s beaches are by far the best in the region. The white beaches and turquoise waters spell paradise.

And then there’s food tripping. Bulalo, corned beef, dried squid, the freshest seafoods… name it, they have it.

In one of our recent trips to Masbate, I asked a dear friend if there’s a new restaurant in town I can try. He immediately recommended Patio Dada, a new restaurant at Brgy. Kinamaligan right at the heart of the city. The suggestion though comes with a caveat, the resto serves western dishes. Generally, when it comes to restaurants offering western dishes, I set my expectations low. There are so many factors to consider: quality of ingredients, skills of chef, knowledge of the cuisines, etc. All these posing big challenges hence my lower expectations.

To my surprise, Patio Dada impresses me right off the bat. Why?

  • Unique ambiance. As soon as you enter the door, you’ll immediately know you’re stepping inside a unique place. It’s interior design is both enchanting and relaxing. Every nook is instagrammable. And you’ll immediately notice the collection of chinawares displayed prominently.
  • Service. The vibe was very friendly. The staff knew what they are offering. I asked a few questions and they patiently explained what’s on the menu.
  • And then, the food! We ordered a risotto, a black burger and a steak. Surprise, surprise! The risotto with truffles is one of the best I’ved tried. And the black burger? It was glorious. Everything was made from scratch, from the bun to the patty. Everything was on point. Even the steak didn’t disappoint. Too bad by the time I was done with the main course, I was too full to ask for a dessert (and thats my main reason to comeback!).

Yes! The tapas and beef and seafoods will always be on top of my list of foods to eat in Masbate BUT if you start craving for some of the best western cuisines while in town, Patio Dada is your best choice.

Put it in your food trip destinations. You will not be disapppionted. I via Renato Jao
