‘Balik Tanaw’ Wedding Theme: A Bicolano couple’s tribute to their grandparents

Surrounded by their loving parents and raised in a culture-centered family, this Bicolano couple decided to incorporate a traditional yet, heart-moving ‘balik tanaw’ theme for their wedding.

In a most traditional Filipino attire, Melchor and Mylene Pidot exchanged vows last March 5 at the St. PIU X Parish church, Sipocot, Camarines Sur.

A carabao pulling a cart full of flower decorations also serves as a vehicle for the newly-wed couple on their way to the wedding venue. The guests, sponsors, and their godparents also wears traditional dresses like hats, walking sticks, and traditional fan.

“[Gusto naming maipakita ang] balik-tanaw at the same time gusto po naming i-recognize ang culture natin at ma-appreciate po ito,” Melchor said.

The theme also serves as a symbolism for their 7-year love story and just like the Filipino culture, their love exists every day.

Melchor considered their wedding as a reminder to the present generation that history and culture have always bear a significant influence to us.
