New Bicol PNP Chief assumes leadership

LEGAZPI CITY- Police General Rodulfo Azurin Jr. presides the turn-over of office ceremony to the new regional director of PRO5 on Tuesday, February 28 at Camp Simeon Ola, Legazpi City.

In his speech, Azurin emphasized the role of the Philippine National Police in preventing crime, ensuring that the environment is secure for everyone to live in, and demonstrating how these duties have a good impact on the tourism sector and the community at large.

“How do you gauge ang ating security framework kung ito ay epektibo o hindi. When tourist starts to come in because of the assurance that the peace and security in the entire Bicol region is safe and secure then tourist will start to come in and visit the tourist destinations here in Bicolandia”, PGEN Azurin explained.

Azurin also challenged the police officers of Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5) to continue working together in order to accomplish the shared objective.

“Give your all out support to the new leadership, work hand-in-hand towards effective and efficient implementation of the PNP objectives and programs to bring peace and unity throughout the region”, PGEN Azurin said in his speech.

Meanwhile, Police Brigadier General Westrimundo Obinque, the new regional head of PRO5, gave a brief overview of his leadership goals for the region and his plans for the following year.

“Sa aking pamumuno, bibigyan po natin ng diin at saysay ang salitang ‘Wastong Disiplina para sa organisadong pamayanan at pulisya’… Hindi natin maisasakatuparan ang trabahong ibinigay sa atin kung wala tayong wastong disiplina. We cannot gain back the trust and support of our communities if we will fail to show them that we are disciplined”, said Obinque in his inaugural speech.

Outgoing Police Brigadier General Rudolph Dimas also took the opportunity to thank all his colleagues and all the Kasurog Cops he worked with while serving as Bicol PNP Regional Director for six months.

“I feel a sense of pride and satisfaction for what we have accomplished together, we have faced many challenges but through our collective efforts we have emerge to conquer more battles. We have work tirelessly to make Bicol safer and peaceful place to live, work and do business”, PBGEN Dimas expressed in his remarks.
