Canaman Parish originally built in 1590s unveils its National Historical Marker

Camarines Sur–The National Historical Marker at the Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption in Canaman, Camarines Sur was unveiled on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.

“The newly-unveiled National Historical Marker at our Parish is a lasting testament not only to the growth of our Catholic Faith, but to our shared journey as a people. As the marker narrates the history of our Church’s edifice, may we also see in it our history as a town and a people of Canaman”, in a statement released by the Parish thru its facebook page.

The church was constructed in the 1590s and was rebuilt in 1669. Written on the marker was the church’s history with the chronology of events leading to what it is now.

Present during the installation, unveiling and turn-over of the historical marker were Carminda R. Arevalo, Supervising History Researcher, National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP); Archbishop Rolando J. Tria Tirona of Archdiocese of Caceres; Ian Alfonzo, NHCP Researcher; Fr.
